Most of the time, creative concepts are in my mind and creative inspiration comes while working on an image. This time was different: the concept was already existing and I only had to bring it to life: working on the promo material for the Secret Forest Festival, the 6th of July 2013 in Stadskanaal, The Netherlands.
To me it was different and a challenge, because normally I want to let my images communicate through eyes. But because we would like to have a “secret” element and a kind of movement, setting. Sabine, the model, is walking to the tree so I had to photograph her from the back.
While shooting, I let her walk a little and the moment of capture accentuated the type of movement we were looking for, with the help of a little wind and liquify.
The final Secret Forest Festival model image, blended with the poster, has a reduced dynamic range: the white tones are blown because of the different layer styles, dodge & burn work and light paintings. But this time it’s exactly what we’re looking for, to let it stand out a little bit more.
Niels Witte is a talented creative designer. He creates colorful work with many details and small assets too, as you can see in the final image. The purpose of the image is to stand out, to become an eye catcher, so I think it will work. 😉
